Abstract

We propose a new standard for time. We call it »AlphaTime« or »αt« for short. Now it is x13652a2.

Intro

Time is a beast. On PlanetEarth, countless approaches have emerged to tame it. Accurate time is essential to coordinate activities of humans, machines and organisations. The physical SiUnit of a "second" is well backed by a sophisticated SyStem of AtomicClock's, UnixTime, EpochTime EtCetera. NetworkTimeProtocol (NtpTla) can be used to distribute AtomicTime to billions (and soon trillions?) of connected devices. However, using time on a planetary or even galactic scale is a mess. Agreeing on a common time can be useful, but proving that events occurred BeFore or after is even more crucial.
